Check out this easy tutorial for DIY Painted Mason Jars! These rustic mason jars are the perfect decoration for Fall!

DIY Painted Mason Jars

Looking for an easy Fall craft to try this year? DIY Painted Mason Jars are such a fun way to bring a bit of farmhouse style to your home! Use your jars as vases, pen holders or stand-alone pieces throughout your home.

Painting mason jars with chalk paint makes it much easier to sand the jars and create a nice distressed look.

Are you ready to make these mason jar centerpieces? Here’s what you’ll do…

What You’ll Need for These DIY Painted Mason Jars:

  • Mason Jars
  • White Chalk Paint
  • Foam Brush
  • Sand Paper
  • Acrylic Sealer {Matte Finish}
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Twine

What You’ll Do:

  1. Using Rubbing Alcohol, clean your mason jars and allow to dry.
  2. Pour white chalk paint into a disposable plastic container.
  3. Using a foam brush, apply a coat of chalk paint over the outside of the mason jar and allow to dry completely.
  4. Then apply a 2nd coat, and allow to dry completely.
  5. Once the mason jar has been coated well, place it onto some parchment paper to dry overnight.
  6. Using sandpaper, start sanding a couple of spots and all of the raised edges around the mason jar to give the appearance of being worn.
  7. Remove dust and spray the jars with an Acrylic Sealer. (this helps to keep the paint from falling off the jars)
  8. Set the jars back on the parchment paper until they are fully dry.
  9. Wrap a length of twine around the rim of the mason jar and tie a bow.
