How Do I Grow Romaine Lettuce?
Supplies Needed:
- Romaine Lettuce Scraps
- Outdoor Sunny Spot in your Garden
- Potting Soil
Instructions to Regrow Romaine Lettuce in Water and Soil:
- Chop up the romaine leaving a few inches from the bottom of the heart.
- Place Romaine in a bowl with 3 inches of water. Keep bowl in a bright, well-lit area and change the water every other day. Roots will begin to grow after several weeks. {I noticed roots starting around the 3 week point}
- After you’ve got several roots that are a couple inches long, plant Romaine in Raised Garden Bed or pot, making sure roots are completely covered.
- Water regularly (several times per week), and watch your FREE lettuce grow!
- When the craving for a fresh salad hits, there are two ways to harvest your lettuce. You can remove the outer leaves so that the center leaves can continue to grow, or you can cut the romaine head off right above the soil line with a sharp knife, leaving the base and root system intact. ENJOY!
